NRCS Earth Team Volunteer Program

MORGANTOWN, WV, June 22, 2005– Do you have an interest in conserving our nation’s natural resources and want a fulfilling way to spend your time? Consider Earth Team. Earth Team is the Natural Resources Conservation Service’s (NRCS) volunteer programs. Whether you have an interest in conserving our nation’s natural resources or want a fulfilling way to spend your free time, through this volunteer program, anyone who is at least fourteen years of age that is interested in conservation can become an NRCS volunteer.

Earth Team volunteers may work with private farmers and landowners, implementing conservation practices; improving wildlife around their community; or assisting in data collection for soil, water, or archaeology surveys. Earth Team volunteers also assist with office and clerical work, community outreach, and giving tours.

West Virginia NRCS needs more volunteers. Some of the benefits of becoming a volunteer are:

  • Community service
  • Fulfillment of helping others
  • Natural resources educational experience
  • Career opportunities with NRCS

One of the most important rewards of becoming a volunteer is the conservation of our precious natural resources.

To find out more on how to get involved, you can visit the Earth Team website at http://www.nrcs.usda.gov/feature/volunteers/.
