Dam Rehabilitation Assessments Scheduled

MORGANTOWN, WV, October 26, 2009—The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has contracted with Gannett Fleming, Inc. to prepare Dam Rehabilitation Assessment reports for 25 dam sites in Grant, Hardy, Marshall, Mineral, Morgan, Pendleton, Preston, Ritchie, and Webster Counties.

Gannett Fleming Inc. company employees, acting as NRCS representatives, will collect data for use in structural evaluations of the dams. They will also travel through the watershed taking house and building elevations to update Emergency Action Plan maps. They may need access to the outside of structures on private property.

The dams in the Patterson Creek Watershed (Grant and Mineral Counties), Upper Deckers Creek Watershed (Preston County), Wheeling Creek Watershed (Marshall County) and Bonds Creek Watershed (Ritchie County) are tentatively scheduled to be inspected during the period from November 9–14, 2009 (Monday through Saturday). The South Fork Watershed (Hardy and Pendleton Counties), Warm Springs Run Watershed (Morgan County), North and South Mill Creek Watershed (Grant County), and Big Ditch Watershed (Webster County) dams are scheduled to be inspected during the November 30–December 6, 2009 period.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact the USDA Service Center in your area.
