Landowner: Robertson Family Farm

Programs: Conservation Education

Overview: The Huntington NRCS staff helped organize and conduct the 2003 Tri-State Forage Producers Forage Day which was held on July 26, 2003 on the Robertson Family Farm in Wayne County. The program was an on-farm education program for livestock and forage producers. During the day, producers heard presentations about livestock health, forage production, and grassland management. Presenters included: Dr. Joe Starcher (WVDA Veterinarian), Dr. Bob Pitts (WVU Veterinarian, Dr. Chad Brown (Local Veterinarian), Ron Strout (Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association), Dr. Ed Rayburn (WVU Agronomist), Keith Viers (Wayne County Cattlemen’s Association), Michael Marks (NRCS District Conservationist) and Carl Marcum (WVU CES County Agent). Approximately 70 producers from the Tri-State area attended the program.
    The program was sponsored by the Guyan Conservation District, Wayne County Cattlemen’s Association, the Wayne County Farm Bureau, WV Conservation Agency, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, WVU Extension Service, and the Robertson family.
