Roof Replacement Preserves Community Center

Program: Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D)

Overview: Mountain RC&D played a critical roll for the Muddy Creek Community building in a drama that included Greenbrier County Commission and Governor Joe Manchin. In a spur of the moment pitch by the County Commission for state funding assistance to Governor Manchin, Mountain RC&D provided matching monies for a new community center roof.

Accomplishments: The Muddy Creek Mountain Community Center received a new roof due to a partnership of the Mountain RC&D Council, Greenbrier County Commission, and WV Governor Joe Manchin.

Program Benefits to the Community: Mountain RC&D provided funding along with its other partners to maintain this important community center. Muddy Creek Mountain Community Center is located in a remote portion of Greenbrier County. Benefits to the community are energy savings through reduced travel and having a local facility available where volunteers can do community programs. It is the only building in the immediate area large enough to provide space for community group activities such as weddings, family reunions, boy/girl scout and various other club meetings.
