Lower Kanawha Watershed

Description

This area is in the south west central part of West Virginia and is about 591,100 acres in size with an estimated 1189 farms eligible for CSP.  The watershed is characterized by hills and narrow valleys.  The northern part of the area has gently sloping, more rounded ridgetops that descend to steep side slopes.  The central and southern part of the area is dominated more by narrower ridgetops and very steep side slopes broken in many areas by gently sloping benches.  The Kanawha River and the Teays Valley dominate the bottomlands with gently sloping soils that provide lands for urban development and agriculture.
